We have seen more evidence over the last few days of the problems with automatic software updates. In two cases, newsagent systems were updated and problems introduced without knowledge of the newsagent until it was too late to recover. The newsagents didn’t ask for the updates and they were not part of a mass release – making reference to colleague newsagents difficult. There is no denying that the problems were caused by the software and that the newsagents lost control of their businesses for a time until it was sorted out.
Our experience is that newsagents and other small business owners like to have control when change is introduced to their business.
