Nowhere is the battle between big national retailers and local independent small business retailers more evident than in the nursery / garden centre space.
At one end you have the massive Bunnings garden centres while at the other you have local nurseries. One is focused solely on improving shareholder value while the other is about supporting the local community, employing local people, imparting knowledge and making a difference locally.
Our goal as a software provider in this and other marketplaces is to help locally owned small business retail outlets to leverage tools similar to those used by big retailers. To access productivity gains and to be equipped and resourced to make smarter business decisions which not losing focus on the local community connection.
Here at Tower Systems we have made and continue to make a conscious choice to serve small business retailers, like independently owned garden centres and nurseries. While our Point of Sale software can be used by retail businesses of any size, it is in the small business retailer community where we are most comfortable.
Small business retailers play a vital economic role, often punching above their weight in terms of economic contribution. They play an even more important social role, holding, sharing and even adding to the narrative of communities around the world as well as providing practical support for community based endeavours.
This is why we sell software to and support independently owned small business garden centres … and other independent retail businesses.
