We are thrilled to see business performance numbers from some retailers for the first quarter of 2012 so far indicating good results. These early results continue the trend we saw in our October through December 2011 Sales Benchmark Study which indicated solid retail sales performance compared what was being generally reported in the media at the time.
One of the biggest challenges retailers face at the moment is the attention being taken by those who are prepared to talk the sector down. While some have ulterior motives in convincing the community that there is a stench around retail, others are just plain ignorant.
We see retail as strong and growth being achieved by those who are accountable for their situation, who act on business performance data and who engage fully with all of the tools and opportunities at their disposal. This is where we appreciate the opportunity to help.
Our message is – don’t believe the doom and gloom of some about retail.
