Chemicals over the counter. What do you have to be able to produce?

C

This is the post nobody wants to read and every produce and farm supply retailer should.

These businesses sell products that carry obligations. Agricultural and veterinary chemicals, restricted products, items with handling and record requirements. If records are requested — by a regulator, an insurer, or a lawyer after something has gone wrong — the answer needs to be a system, not a memory.

What turns up in stores is a folder. Sometimes a good folder. Often, though, a folder with gaps, kept by one person, and unavailable when that person is away.

Our Tower Systems software for produce / stockfeed / farm supply businesses includes hazardous material information support, with notifications and documentation. The product carries its own information. The right prompts appear at the point of sale. You can see for yourself if this serves your specific needs based on the materials you sell.

The benefit at the counter is that a casual on a Saturday is guided by the software, depending on how you have it set up. They do not need to know which products carry which requirements, because the system raises it. That is a training benefit as much as a compliance one.

The benefit later is retrieval. A question answered in minutes, from the system, with the detail intact.

Two things are worth saying plainly.

Software does not make a business compliant. The obligations belong to the business, and they vary by product and by state. What good software does is make the right process the easy process, and make the record retrievable.

This is also not only about regulators. Stock control on restricted products matters. So does knowing which customers buy what, and how much, across a season.

If these records live in a folder, it is worth seeing how a system handles it. Send Tower Systems a note on how it is managed today. The response will be honest about whether there is an improvement available. If there is not, that will be said.

It’s important to us that we pitch our software where we are certain it serves the need. We have other businesses we can suggest you look at if we think we are not the right fit based on what you tell us.

Free POS software training from Tower Systems. Still free, still regular.

F

Most POS software companies sell you the software and leave you to work it out. Tower Systems doesn’t. We run free training for our customers, on a regular schedule, and we have done for years.

Training long after you have started using POS software is valuable. We know and this is why we continue to offer free training to our customers.

This isn’t a one-off or a sweetener to close a sale. It’s an ongoing part of being a Tower Systems customer. Sessions run often enough that you can pick the topic you need, when you need it, rather than waiting for an annual roadshow.

The part people value most is the Q&A. You’re not watching a recording. There’s a real person running the session, and you can ask your own question about your own shop and get an answer on the spot. That’s rare. A lot of companies charge for it, or don’t offer it at all.

The training suits everyone. New staff finding their feet on the counter. Owners who want to use a part of the software they’ve never touched. People who’ve used Tower for years and want to sharpen up on the features added since they last looked.

Here’s what’s coming up.

  • Getting more from your sales reporting
  • Stock control that actually saves you money
  • Running a stocktake without closing the doors
  • Managing repairs and the jobs that come with them
  • Tracking the KPIs that tell you how the shop is really going
  • Loyalty and customer marketing built into your POS
  • New features you may have missed in recent updates

Topics rotate, so if the one you want isn’t listed this round, it’ll come around again. You can also tell us what you’d like covered. A lot of our sessions started life as a customer request.

It costs you nothing. It’s there because retailers who understand their software run better businesses, and that’s good for everyone. The shops that get the most out of Tower are almost always the ones that turn up to a session or two a year.

Free, ongoing training: getting more from your POS software

F

It is 12 June, and this afternoon at 2:00 PM AEST Tower Systems runs its latest customer training webinar — The Profit Lens: Unlocking Your Store’s Growth — covering reports, insights, and data-driven decision-making. With the financial year wrapping up, the timing is useful.

Most businesses use a fraction of what their POS software can do. That is not a criticism. When you are managing staff, serving customers, and handling day-to-day operations, there is no spare hour to explore features you have not needed yet.

The issue is that some of those unused features have a direct bearing on margin, stock efficiency, and customer retention. Not knowing they are there has a practical cost.

Short sessions, practical focus

Tower Systems runs free training workshops for customers regularly. Each session runs 30 to 60 minutes and covers one area of the software in depth. Recent topics include:

  • Profitability reporting — using insights dashboards to identify top performers and clear dead stock
  • AI tools — automating product descriptions, blog posts, and supplier invoices
  • Stock control — rolling stocktakes and mobile inventory tracking
  • Customer retention — loyalty profiles, vouchers, and gift cards

No cost. No upsell. Part of being a Tower Systems customer.

Fits around the counter

Sessions run live, with the option to ask questions directly. Every session is also recorded — if a customer walks in or a delivery arrives, you can watch it later.

The full schedule and past recordings are available at the Customer Meetings hub.

Now,  a note about the value of POS software training. It’s simple, really. The better you understand how to use any tool, the more value you can get from using the tool.

This is 100% true with any POS software. It’s why we offer so many free training opportunities to our customers, in fact to anyone. We love helping retail staff learn how to achieve more in and for a shop using our POS software.

Our free training program is structured, interactive and evolving as customers provide feedback on other topics they would like to see covered.

The free POS software training we offer here at Tower Systems has helped us win more customers, for which we are sincerely grateful.
