Inspired by the principles in Jeff Jarvis’s book What Would Google Do?, we launched the Software Ideas platform 16 years ago to make our development process more transparent and driven by real-world customer needs.
The process is simple and democratic:
- Suggest: Our retail customers can submit any suggestion for a software enhancement through the platform.
- Assess: Our team assesses each idea for its technical feasibility and cost.
- Vote: If a suggestion is viable, we open it up for a community vote where all of our POS software customers can have their say on the features they want most.
This entire process is managed by team members like Mitch, who ensures that valuable customer feedback moves from an idea to a tangible feature, humanising and adding transparency to our development cycle.

This isn’t just a suggestion box—it’s the core of our innovation strategy. We are proud that every single update to our POS software includes enhancements suggested by our customers through the Software Ideas platform.
For example, our most recent software release in September 2025 contains eight new features that originated directly from this customer-driven process. We even highlight these user-suggested enhancements in our update notes to show the power and impact of our community’s engagement.
